Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you tell me more about Manhattan Nutrition Clinic?

The Manhattan Nutrition Clinic offers medical nutrition counseling services for patients with a variety of medical diagnoses.

These services are provided by a nutrition specialist, & registered dietitian Jordan Chen. Her office is conveniently located inside Heart and Vascular Clinics, 200 Research Drive Manhattan, KS.

Jordan received her bachelor's degree at Kansas State University in 2015 and went on to receive her Master's degree at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2017. She had clinical training at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City before moving back to her hometown of Manhattan, Kansas.

Jordan founded Manhattan Nutrition Clinic on the principle to provide personalized nutrition for every patient. The clinic's specialties include weight loss, nutrition for cardiovascular disease, diabetes education, and food allergies and gastrointestinal issues.

Jordan includes nutrition counseling, metabolic testing, ordering necessary labs relating to nutrition, and provides a detailed printout of your body composition at each visit (if desired).

  • What does a session look like?

For the initial assessment, I will dive deep into your medical history, goals, typical diet, current medications, sleep habits, and other factors that impact your diet and lifestyle. The session will be guided based on these answers. Follow-up sessions will be dependent on goals we set during the initial assessment. I often times track information such as weight, body composition, blood pressure, food diaries, etc., but it is very dependent on each person and their goals.

  • How much does it cost?

Cost varies patient to patient depending on insurance coverage and their diagnosis. We offer out-of-pocket rates as well, but it is dependent on each person's coverage and financial situation.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I am an in-network provider with many major commercial and state insurances, including BCBS, United HealthCare, Humana, Cigna, Medicare, and Tricare.

  • Do I need a referral?

If you have Medicare part B or Tricare then a referral is needed. Commercial plans generally don't need a referral, but you can always double check.

  • What are the CPT codes for nutrition counseling?

    97802 and 97803

  • Do you offer telehealth services?

Yes! Currently I can use any form of video or audio form to counsel patients on nutrition, but I have a HIPPA compliant telehealth service I use through my electronic health system.

  • How long are sessions typically?

On average, an initial session is usually about 45 to 60 minutes. Follow up sessions are usually about 30 to 60 minutes.
